Why You Want To Have A H2S Gas Detector?

Sep 23, 2025

Hydrogen Sulphide(H2S) is a colourless, flammable and extremely toxic gas that is frequently found in petrochemical plants, oil gas industries and sewage treatment plants etc. Exposure to 100 parts per million (ppm) can quickly lead to loss of smell, respiratory irritation, and even death with prolonged exposure.

What are hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas detectors?

You can’t neglect a hydrogen sulfide gas detector for job safety. It is absolutely necessary to monitor these gasses when exposure is likely. Hydrogen sulfide gas detectors are devices designed to detect and monitor the presence and levels of hydrogen sulfide gas in the surrounding environment.

Electrochemical sensor technologies: This is the most common method for detecting H2S. When H2S gas comes into contact with the sensor, it undergoes a chemical reaction that produces an electric current. The magnitude of this current is proportional to the concentration of H2S, which the detector then translates into a concentration reading. The detector alarms with loud sounds or vibrations when levels exceed a safe threshold. These alarms guarantee workers act immediately to avoid exposure.

What hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas detectors does Hanwei Electronics have?

With over 20 years within the gas detection industry and being an independent manufacturer, we can provide clients with a variety of hydrogen sulphide gas detector solutions.

1. Portable H2S Gas Detectors: These are wearable devices clipped to a worker's collar or pocket. They provide continuous, real-time monitoring and will emit loud audible and bright visual alarms the instant H₂S levels become dangerous, allowing the worker to immediately evacuate. Such as our E410 portable multi gas detector, Up to simultaneously 4-gas detection, Support various sensors such as infrared, electrochemical and PID, which can meet more than 10 gas detection needs.

2. Fixed H2S Gas Detection Systems: These are permanently installed detectors placed in likely areas of gas accumulation. They are connected to a central control panel that can trigger alarms, activate ventilation systems if a leak is detected. Such as our GTQ-BS03 fixed gas detector, ATEX and IECEX certified, Smart sensor module, free of calibration, easy to maintain.
