Why You Want To Have A Flammable Gas Detector?

Sep 22, 2025

Some industrial environments are more dangerous than others. Clean air is vital for human health. Flammable gases, toxic gases, confined spaces and present a serious threat to employees in many industries.

Excessive levels of combustible gases, whether due to a gas leak or an accumulation of gases during manufacturing processes, can be overlooked because many flammable gases are invisible, odorless, and tasteless.

How do flammable gas detectors work?

The sensor(catalytic sensor, semiconductor, laser sensor) is an integral component of combustible gas detectors. It plays an essential role in effectively detecting flammable gases and triggering alarms to alert users.

The primary function of the sensor is to quantify the amount of combustible gas in the air. When the gas concentration in the environment reaches a level that could ignite or explode, it has reached its lower explosive limit. The sensor detects this threshold, and when it does, it triggers an alarm. The Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) is the lowest concentration of combustible gas in air that is capable of producing a flame in the presence of an ignition source.

What does a flammable gas detector detect?

Some commonly associated gases with LEL include but are not limited to, natural gas or methane, propane, hydrogen, ethane, ethanol, butane, acetylene, IPA, and Isobutyl.

Gas Detection-Our Detectably Better Solutions

Portable Gas Detector Solutions

Portable monitoring is an excellent way of protecting staff. They monitor the surrounding atmosphere and alert workers to the presence of combustible gas. Crucially, they offer rapid responsiveness in even harsh environments.

Our portable gas detectors protect against a wide range of gas hazards, these include BZ100, E1000.

Another option is the BX616 portable multi gas detector. The BX616 is a four-gas sensor designed to detect Flammable Gases (CxHx), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), and Oxygen (O2) enrichment/depletion. One of the standout features of the BX616 is its certification for IECEx and ATEX.

Fixed gas detector Solutions

Our fixed gas detectors are used in many applications, these include GTQ-BS servies, GTQ-WD2200, and GTQ-WD6200. Combined with a variety of our fixed detectors, our gas alarm control panels offer a flexible range of solutions that measure flammable, toxic and oxygen gases.

GTQ-BS03 Fixed gas detector features an easy-to-read screen that displays current gas levels. In the event of a leak or buildup of combustible gas to an unsafe level, the detector will set off an alarm, complete with horns and flashing lights, alerting personnel to evacuate the area.
